In June this year the Spinal Injuries Association held their ‘Rebuilding Lives After Spinal Cord Injury Awards’. The awards were aimed at people throughout the country who have in some way helped others with SCI in an outstanding way.
I was honoured when Christa Dyson, a trustee of the SIA, contacted me to say that she’d like to nominate me. I have got to know Christa well since working together on the PSP project at Stoke Mandeville and I was delighted that Christa was so supportive of the work we are doing at RST. Thanks Christa.
From the hundreds of nominees, each category short listed three people to attend a glamorous awards ceremony at the Hilton in Birmingham. I was over the moon to make the shortlist and then to actually win, well… that was simply amazing
I dedicated my award to Marrianne, as we are very much a team and we wouldn’t be where we are today without all the brilliant people who support us. Family, friends and of course TeamRST.
It was also great to see our friend Andy Galbraith (right) pick up the ‘Outstanding Physio’ award and good to see my old pal ‘Simon’ make a p.a!
